A FULL-ON DAY OF OUTDOOR FOOD SKILLS LEARNING AND DINING. This is for the outdoors lover who wants to learn, do, eat, and drink all the things. Whether you paddle, hike, hunt, fish, camp, snowshoe - camp cookery can make or break your time in the field. Join us for a packed day of foraging, cooking class, field cookery instruction, wild mixology & pantry buliding, and a forest to table feast.


    TIME - 10 - 6pm


    WHAT TO EXPECT - Meet up in the boreal at our prospector tent basecamp. Grab a foraged tea and go on a morning foraging walk to learn a few new species and gather some flavours for the guest chef back at basecamp. While we’re in the field we’ll cover spike camp cookery with light daypack gear, then head back to get some pointers from the chef (maybe even give them a hand) while they’re working on your mid day feast in the woods over fire. You’ll share in a mid-day feast in the forest with other like minded folks, the menu built around the flavours of the Canadian wilderness. We’ll get your hands dirty building some pantry, mixing cocktails while learning about wild mixology and outdoors drink pairing, and wrap the day sitting around a fire and soaking in the forest. Be prepared to do some walking through the bush, learn a lot, smell like smoke, eat and drink new flavours, make new friends, and feel amazing.

    NOTE - our basecamp location is actually in a large forest, and we will be doing a fair bit of hiking through the bush in very undulating terrain. If you have concerns or questions about your ability to participate, please do contact us prior to buying a spot.

    WHAT TO WEAR - We'll be outdoors the whole time, so check the weather forecast and dress appropriately. Even in warm weather long sleeves and pants are highly recommended for rose bushes and mosquitos. Wool is your friend when the weather gets chilly.


    RAIN PLAN - Event runs rain or shine. We can wait out some rain in the prospector tent if need be, and we'll have wood in the stove to keep you toasty.

    Kevin Kossowan has been on 80+ wild food adventures in the Canadian wild for his twice James Beard Foundation award nominated web series ‘From The Wild’. He’s taught field cookery at the Global Bushcraft Symposium, co-creates the PBS series ‘Wild Harvest’ with Les Stroud and chef Paul Rogalski, has led numerous foraging workshops and forage-to-table workshops, and regularly works with chefs exploring the culinary potential of the wild.
